| Este ensayo analiza la historiografía de la revolución mexicana y su relación con "la nueva historia cultural" y la transición de México a la democracia. Primero, se hace un resumen de lo que fue la historiografía de la revolución durante los años noventa para mostrarnos cómo y por qué apareció la historia cultural de la revolución. Después lo que es la historia cultural de acuerdo a quienes la practican y los problemas metodológicos que esta corriente historiográfica no ha podido resolver. This essay analyzes the historiography of the Mexican revolution, its relation to the "New Cultural History" and Mexico's current transition to democracy. First it makes a summary of what the historiography of the revolution was berfore the 90's. to show how and way the Cultural History of the revolution came about. Then, it explains both waht Cultural History is according to the people that practice it, and the methodological problems that this approach has not been able to resolve. In the last section, it argues that the historiogrphy of the revolution is now confronting a very interesting paradox: now that the government is trying to "kill" the popular revolution as a source of ideology. Cultural History is "bringing the popular back in" That is to say. Cultural History finally proposing a way to study how the "subaltern" lived and made sense of the revolution, and what the impact of the popular was in the state-building process that followed the revolution. | |
