| Los filmes policiales mexicanos han recibido poca atención académica. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el rol y la imagen social del informante en el cine policial mexicano. El cine de “madrinas” es relativamente reciente (solamente se han encontrado cinco películas). Los hallazgos sugieren que hay varias categorías significantes que pueden servir para describir al informante policial: cultura estética, origen social, operación y funcionalidad, estructura y jerarquía, relación con la clase política, origen y reclutamiento e historia. El cine no es un reflejo de la realidad, pero parece mostrar una forma de realidad cultural conformada por el arte que permite hacer ciertas inferencias parciales sobre la realidad de los informantes policiales en México. Films about Mexican police or detective movies have received very little academic attention. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role and the social image of the police informant (nark) in Mexican police films. In the Mexican culture, a nark is known as a “madrina”, which literally translates as godmother. Madrina cinema is relatively recent and scant, and only five films have been found for purposes of this essay. Findings suggest that there are several significant categories that serve to describe a pólice informant: cultural aesthetics; social origin; operation, function, structure and hierarchy of the system; relationship with the police class; and finally origin and recruitment history. The cinema is not a reflection of reality, but it seems to demonstrate a form of cultural manifestation that allows one to make partial inferences about the experience of police informants in Mexico. | |
